fastx-toolkit software package provides FASTQ/A short nucleotide reads pre-processing tools, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install fastx-toolkit
fastx-toolkit is installed in your system.
Make ensure the fastx-toolkit package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep fastx-toolkit *
You will get with fastx-toolkit package name, version, architecture and description in a table
