hotswap-text software package provides (de)register hotswappable IDE hardware (command line tool), you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install hotswap-text
hotswap-text is installed in your system.
Make ensure the hotswap-text package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep hotswap-text *
You will get with hotswap-text package name, version, architecture and description in a table
