j4-dmenu-desktop software package provides faster replacement for i3-dmenu-desktop, you can install in your Ubuntu 17.04 (Zesty Zapus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install j4-dmenu-desktop
j4-dmenu-desktop is installed in your system.
