empathy-skype software package provides Skype plugin for libpurple messengers (Empathy-specific files), you can install in your Ubuntu 17.04 (Zesty Zapus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install empathy-skype
empathy-skype is installed in your system.
Make ensure the empathy-skype package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep empathy-skype *
You will get with empathy-skype package name, version, architecture and description in a table
