libass5 software package provides library for SSA/ASS subtitles rendering, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libass5
libass5 is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libass5 package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libass5 *
You will get with libass5 package name, version, architecture and description in a table
