latex-make software package provides easy compiling of complex (and simple) LaTeX documents, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install latex-make
latex-make is installed in your system.
Make ensure the latex-make package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep latex-make *
You will get with latex-make package name, version, architecture and description in a table
