libjpeg62-dev software package provides Development files for the IJG JPEG library (version 6.2), you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libjpeg62-dev
libjpeg62-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libjpeg62-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libjpeg62-dev *
You will get with libjpeg62-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
