libexif12 software package provides library to parse EXIF files, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libexif12
libexif12 is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libexif12 package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libexif12 *
You will get with libexif12 package name, version, architecture and description in a table
