libdmalloc-dev software package provides debug memory allocation library (development files and doc), you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libdmalloc-dev
libdmalloc-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libdmalloc-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libdmalloc-dev *
You will get with libdmalloc-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
