libdb5.3-dev software package provides Berkeley v5.3 Database Libraries [development], you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libdb5.3-dev
libdb5.3-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libdb5.3-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libdb5.3-dev *
You will get with libdb5.3-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
