libappstream-glib-dev software package provides GNOME library to access AppStream services (development files), you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libappstream-glib-dev
libappstream-glib-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libappstream-glib-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libappstream-glib-dev *
You will get with libappstream-glib-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
