jruby-openssl software package provides Ruby library that emulates the OpenSSL native library for JRuby, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install jruby-openssl
jruby-openssl is installed in your system.
Make ensure the jruby-openssl package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep jruby-openssl *
You will get with jruby-openssl package name, version, architecture and description in a table
