ircd-hybrid software package provides high-performance secure IRC server, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install ircd-hybrid
ircd-hybrid is installed in your system.
Make ensure the ircd-hybrid package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep ircd-hybrid *
You will get with ircd-hybrid package name, version, architecture and description in a table
