influxdb-client software package provides command line interface for InfluxDB, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install influxdb-client
influxdb-client is installed in your system.
Make ensure the influxdb-client package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep influxdb-client *
You will get with influxdb-client package name, version, architecture and description in a table
