inetutils-ftp software package provides File Transfer Protocol client, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install inetutils-ftp
inetutils-ftp is installed in your system.
Make ensure the inetutils-ftp package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep inetutils-ftp *
You will get with inetutils-ftp package name, version, architecture and description in a table
