hg-fast-export software package provides mercurial to git converter using git-fast-import, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install hg-fast-export
hg-fast-export is installed in your system.
Make ensure the hg-fast-export package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep hg-fast-export *
You will get with hg-fast-export package name, version, architecture and description in a table
