gwyddion-common software package provides architecture-independent files for Gwyddion SPM analysis tool, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install gwyddion-common
gwyddion-common is installed in your system.
Make ensure the gwyddion-common package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gwyddion-common *
You will get with gwyddion-common package name, version, architecture and description in a table
