gnuais software package provides AIS receiver which uses the discriminator output of VHF receivers, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install gnuais
gnuais is installed in your system.
Make ensure the gnuais package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gnuais *
You will get with gnuais package name, version, architecture and description in a table
