gitweb software package provides fast, scalable, distributed revision control system (web interface), you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install gitweb
gitweb is installed in your system.
Make ensure the gitweb package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gitweb *
You will get with gitweb package name, version, architecture and description in a table
