git-restore-mtime software package provides set timestamps to the date of a files last commit, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install git-restore-mtime
git-restore-mtime is installed in your system.
Make ensure the git-restore-mtime package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep git-restore-mtime *
You will get with git-restore-mtime package name, version, architecture and description in a table
