gir1.2-mate-menu software package provides GObject introspection data for the MATE menu specification, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install gir1.2-mate-menu
gir1.2-mate-menu is installed in your system.
Make ensure the gir1.2-mate-menu package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gir1.2-mate-menu *
You will get with gir1.2-mate-menu package name, version, architecture and description in a table
