gir1.2-cheese-3.0 software package provides tool to take pictures and videos from your webcam - gir bindings, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install gir1.2-cheese-3.0
gir1.2-cheese-3.0 is installed in your system.
Make ensure the gir1.2-cheese-3.0 package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gir1.2-cheese-3.0 *
