How to Install gedit software package in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus)

gedit software package provides official text editor of the GNOME desktop environment, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install gedit 

gedit is installed in your system.

Make ensure the gedit package were installed using the commands given below,

$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gedit *

You will get with gedit package name, version, architecture and description in a table
