fusioninventory-agent-task-esx software package provides ESX and ESXi inventory, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install fusioninventory-agent-task-esx
fusioninventory-agent-task-esx is installed in your system.
Make ensure the fusioninventory-agent-task-esx package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep fusioninventory-agent-task-esx*
You will get with fusioninventory-agent-task-esx package name, version, architecture and description in a table
