fsl-core software package provides metapackage for the latest version of FSL, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install fsl-core
fsl-core is installed in your system.
Make ensure the fsl-core package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep fsl-core *
You will get with fsl-core package name, version, architecture and description in a table
