freefem software package provides PDE oriented language using Finite Element Method, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install freefem
freefem is installed in your system.
Make ensure the freefem package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep freefem *
You will get with freefem package name, version, architecture and description in a table
