fbterm software package provides A fast framebuffer based terminal emulator for Linux, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install fbterm
fbterm is installed in your system.
Make ensure the fbterm package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep fbterm *
You will get with fbterm package name, version, architecture and description in a table
