evince-gtk software package provides dummy package for the transition from evince-gtk to evince, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install evince-gtk
evince-gtk is installed in your system.
Make ensure the evince-gtk package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep evince-gtk *
You will get with evince-gtk package name, version, architecture and description in a table
