dotdee software package provides convert a flat file to a file concatenated from a .d-style directory, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install dotdee
dotdee is installed in your system.
Make ensure the dotdee package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep dotdee *
You will get with dotdee package name, version, architecture and description in a table
