cups-filters-core-drivers software package provides OpenPrinting CUPS Filters - PPD-less printing, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install cups-filters-core-drivers
cups-filters-core-drivers is installed in your system.
Make ensure the cups-filters-core-drivers package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep cups-filters-core-drivers *
You will get with cups-filters-core-drivers package name, version, architecture and description in a table
