couchdb software package provides RESTful document oriented database - system-wide instance, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install couchdb
couchdb is installed in your system.
Make ensure the couchdb package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep couchdb *
You will get with couchdb package name, version, architecture and description in a table
