commit-patch software package provides utility to commit fine grained patches to source code control repositories, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install commit-patch
commit-patch is installed in your system.
Make ensure the commit-patch package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep commit-patch *
You will get with commit-patch package name, version, architecture and description in a table
