acpi-support software package provides scripts for handling many ACPI events, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install acpi-support
acpi-support is installed in your system.
Make ensure the acpi-support package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep acpi-support *
You will get with acpi-support package name, version, architecture and description in a table
