rinputd software package provides server daemon for receiving user input events, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install rinputd
rinputd is installed in your system.
Make ensure the rinputd package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep rinputd *
You will get with rinputd package name, version, architecture and description in a table
