read-edid software package provides hardware information-gathering tool for VESA PnP monitors, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install read-edid
read-edid is installed in your system.
Make ensure the read-edid package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep read-edid *
You will get with read-edid package name, version, architecture and description in a table
