python-xappy software package provides easy-to-use interface to the Xapian search engine, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install python-xappy
python-xappy is installed in your system.
Make ensure the python-xappy package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep python-xappy *
You will get with python-xappy package name, version, architecture and description in a table
