pulseaudio-utils software package provides Command line tools for the PulseAudio sound server, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install pulseaudio-utils
pulseaudio-utils is installed in your system.
Make ensure the pulseaudio-utils package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep pulseaudio-utils *
You will get with pulseaudio-utils package name, version, architecture and description in a table
