pry software package provides powerfull irb alternative and runtime developer console, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install pry
pry is installed in your system.
Make ensure the pry package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep pry *
You will get with pry package name, version, architecture and description in a table
