powertop-1.13 software package provides Linux tool to find out what is using power on a laptop, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install powertop-1.13
powertop-1.13 is installed in your system.
Make ensure the powertop-1.13 package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep powertop-1.13 *
You will get with powertop-1.13 package name, version, architecture and description in a table
