postgresql-client software package provides front-end programs for PostgreSQL (supported version), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install postgresql-client
postgresql-client is installed in your system.
Make ensure the postgresql-client package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep postgresql-client *
You will get with postgresql-client package name, version, architecture and description in a table
