plasma-widget-smooth-tasks software package provides alternate task manager plasma widget, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install plasma-widget-smooth-tasks
plasma-widget-smooth-tasks is installed in your system.
Make ensure the plasma-widget-smooth-tasks package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep plasma-widget-smooth-tasks *
