php-text-captcha software package provides PEAR module for generating CAPTCHAs, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install php-text-captcha
php-text-captcha is installed in your system.
Make ensure the php-text-captcha package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep php-text-captcha *
You will get with php-text-captcha package name, version, architecture and description in a table
