opensc software package provides Smart card utilities with support for PKCS#15 compatible cards, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install opensc
opensc is installed in your system.
Make ensure the opensc package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep opensc *
You will get with opensc package name, version, architecture and description in a table
