openct software package provides middleware framework for smart card terminals, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install openct
openct is installed in your system.
Make ensure the openct package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep openct *
You will get with openct package name, version, architecture and description in a table
