nvidia-173-dev software package provides NVIDIA binary Xorg driver development files, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install nvidia-173-dev
nvidia-173-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the nvidia-173-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep nvidia-173-dev *
You will get with nvidia-173-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
