ncbi-tools-x11 software package provides NCBI libraries for biology applications (X-based utilities), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install ncbi-tools-x11
ncbi-tools-x11 is installed in your system.
Make ensure the ncbi-tools-x11 package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep ncbi-tools-x11 *
You will get with ncbi-tools-x11 package name, version, architecture and description in a table
