mpeg2dec software package provides Simple libmpeg2 video decoder application, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install mpeg2dec
mpeg2dec is installed in your system.
Make ensure the mpeg2dec package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep mpeg2dec *
You will get with mpeg2dec package name, version, architecture and description in a table
