mon software package provides monitor hosts/services/whatever and alert about problems, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install mon
mon is installed in your system.
Make ensure the mon package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep mon *
You will get with mon package name, version, architecture and description in a table
