mafft software package provides Multiple alignment program for amino acid or nucleotide sequences, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install mafft
mafft is installed in your system.
Make ensure the mafft package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep mafft *
You will get with mafft package name, version, architecture and description in a table
