lldpd software package provides implementation of IEEE 802.1ab (LLDP), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install lldpd
lldpd is installed in your system.
Make ensure the lldpd package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep lldpd *
You will get with lldpd package name, version, architecture and description in a table
